Sirens

"Sirens" is a sculptural installation that takes cues from Haruki Murakami's mind-bending short story, "The Seventh Man”. Originated in 2015 as part of a solo exhibition,
the installation has continuously evolved, adapting to the characteristics of each space it occupies. Influenced by Yaniv’s upbringing in a coastal city, where waves have always held a profound fascination, "Sirens" explores their dual nature. Waves embody both beauty and power, representing the rhythmic interplay between life and destruction. This exploration is intertwined with concerns about the fragility of our ecosystem, particularly the growing dangers to our oceans. Using thousands of recycled fragments sourced from Yaniv’s studio work and everyday life, "Sirens" creates hybrid seascapes that blur the line between reality and imagination, the organic and the artificial. The layering process within the installation reflects resilience and an urgent desire for survival. It invites viewers to enter a space where the boundaries between the tangible and the imagined become fluid, encouraging contemplation of our deep connection with nature.
